Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, everyone is liked to go to other city or country by aroplane to achive their higher education or may for seeking valid job. Many people have already decided to decline or to completely finished their flight. From my point of view, we should have to decreased travelad by aroplane to live in clean environment.

On one hand, it has benifitial for the environment to stoped or even to minimized our flying activity. For one good environment, it is required to less use aroplane and other flying vihicals to reduced noice pollution as well as air pollution. For example, if there are too many engine have runed for flight, then they will release smoke which made from fuil and also their engine created noice to disturbe their environment. Further more when people use their private jeat or other engine for flying they should be paid a huge amount for them, which is worst way of wasted money, because air ticket has very expance.

On other hand, flight has also very important for individuals and as well as for business purpose. Flight give an opportunity for people to traveled from one place to another place without spend too much time on it. For example, last month, there are four meeting were required for my father to attend them, but without flighting it was completely imposable for my father to attend all these meeting in much little time.

In conclussion, it has important for people to reduced their flight to improve our environment, but for personal or for business purpose it is very important to save our time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view: reducing flights benefits the environment, while flying remains useful for personal and business travel. The examples about aircraft emissions and your father’s meetings are relevant. However, the environmental case is only partly explained: noise and air pollution are mentioned, but the response does not clearly compare the scale of these benefits with the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. The point about expensive private jets and wasted money is also not fully connected to the question, which asks about the disadvantages of reducing flights. Develop this comparison and explain more specifically how fewer flights could affect business operations or people’s opportunities.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting sides, and a conclusion. The signposts “On one hand,” “On other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the basic argument. Ideas within the paragraphs are generally relevant, but progression is sometimes unclear: the discussion of private-jet costs shifts away from the environmental benefit, and the final paragraph repeats the main points without resolving which side outweighs the other. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “them” in the example about meetings are not entirely clear. Use topic sentences that directly answer the comparison, then connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a limited but relevant range of vocabulary, including “environment,” “air pollution,” “business purpose,” and “opportunity,” which allows the main ideas to be understood. However, frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices sometimes make the reader work to interpret the message, as in “aroplane,” “benifitial,” “fuil,” and “imposable.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “flighting” and “live in clean environment.” Aim to learn accurate topic vocabulary and common collocations, then check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “aircraft emissions,” “reduce air travel,” and “business meetings” would help you express the argument clearly without relying on repeated general words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if there are too many engines…” and a contrast introduced by “but.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “everyone is liked to go,” “we should have to decreased,” and “there are four meeting were required”; these show problems with verb forms, sentence construction, and agreement. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “for one good environment” and “all these meeting.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check tense consistency and agreement, especially when describing past events.
