Student answer (Band 6.0)
Few Individuals have taken a decision to decrease the number of flights they take to travel from one city to another or to just avoid flying at all. I believe that its disadvantages for individuals and business owners are more significant and outweigh the advantages of environmental benefits.
Environmental pollution has taken a great importance in todays era. People think that if they reduce the numbers of flights taken yearly to a number of zero or near to it can significantly decrease the pollution in environment. As burning of fossil fuels in plane's engines creates huge amount of smoke in the atmosphere which causes certain diseases related to the respiratory system. Global warming is another issue with which humanity has been dealing for decades. As fuel burnt in engines directly impacts the layer of gases which keeps our planet warm up to a certain temperature. If the percentage of gases increased in the atmosphere, it can make our plane hot enough to cause major disasters.
Airports are of great importance for any country in the world and they take part in the annual GDP of a country in huge percentages. However, there are some disadvantages for this development which cannot be overlooked. For a country like Dubai, whose economy heavily relies on the taxes generated by the airports could fall. Besides that, business owners who travel from country to another to attend meetings or handling their businesses world wide can be effected badly. As they find time their time a precious asset which could be wasted in long journeys.
In conclusion, reducing flights can have great environmental benefits like reducing the gases and carbon footprint. However, this development could lead to some bad results such as effecting a country's economy or time of world wide businessman.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe the disadvantages for individuals and businesses outweigh the environmental benefits, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides by mentioning emissions and global warming, then the economic role of airports and the travel needs of business owners. However, the environmental case is more fully explained than the disadvantages, which are asserted rather than explored. For example, the Dubai example would be stronger with a clear explanation of how fewer flights would affect airport revenue, jobs, or related businesses. The point about business travel is also brief and unclear. Develop these ideas with specific consequences and examples, and make the comparison between the benefits and disadvantages more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for environmental effects and disadvantages, and a concluding summary. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use basic linking expressions such as “However,” “Besides that,” and “In conclusion” to signal shifts between ideas. At times, though, connections within paragraphs are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “As fuel burnt in engines…” does not connect smoothly to the preceding claim, and the final paragraph lists effects without explaining how they support your judgement that disadvantages outweigh benefits. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and develop each paragraph around a central claim, with supporting explanation before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “fossil fuels,” “respiratory system,” “global warming,” “GDP,” and “carbon footprint.” These terms help communicate the subject, and some less common choices show an attempt to discuss environmental and economic impacts. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “taken a great importance,” “our plane hot,” and “effected badly.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “todays,” “world wide,” and “businessman” where a plural or gender-neutral term is needed. These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which” and “if,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “Global warming is another issue with which humanity has been dealing for decades.” However, there are some grammatical errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “People think that if they reduce … can significantly decrease” lacks a clear grammatical subject for “can,” while “a country … could fall” does not clearly express what would fall. The fragment beginning “As fuel burnt in engines…” also needs to be joined to a complete clause. Practise building complete sentences around subordinate clauses and check agreement and article use.
