Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some individuals decides to decrease the number of flights they board yearly, or to stop using planes totally. In my view, this has more advantages than the disavantages for businesses and individuals.

One of the diasdvantages of reducing air travels is that, individuals and businesses will be limited or tied down to a particular location. This is because, the time it takes for a business to be conducted successfully in a new location, its representatives needs contstant on ground survey and explorations. The findings of the exploration will need to be communicated to the group in a meeting, which will be limited or not possible if people decides to stop flying. Healthwise, people die in some underdeveloped countries due to lack of expert doctors, and some help needed for treatment of certain pandemics getting to the affected nations on time. traveling by road or water bodies makes the supposed fast response, a slow and months waited delivery. It also affects the economy of the country, as aviation also contributes to the GDP of the country.

Plane is one of the major means of transport, and has a lot of environmental benefits to the society at large. The cost of flight from a state to another, or a country to another country leaves a gap in the pockets of individuals who constantly make use of planes as means of transportation. People get to save money that they would have spent on flight tickets, if they travel less using flights or dont fly at all. The pollution caused by buring jet fuels will also reduce overtime, and also the death troll will reduce as the risk of surving a plane crash is at 1%, even tho more succesfull flights has been recorded. I believe developing countries will be forced to work and achieve some level of advancement they need, if people stop traveling far to settle or run bussiness.

In conlusion, the individual financial gains from savings for money ment for flight tickets, protecting the ozone layer and protection of human life is more important that the fun of traveling the worl to conduct businesses and countries GDP increase due to aviation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe the benefits of flying less outweigh the disadvantages. You address both sides, noting possible effects on business activity, medical assistance and aviation’s contribution to the economy, then contrasting these with personal savings and reduced fuel pollution. These are relevant points, but some are not fully explained or are difficult to reconcile. For example, the claim that flying less will make developing countries advance is asserted rather than supported, and the discussion of plane-crash risk is not clearly connected to the environmental benefits. To strengthen the response, explain the scale and significance of the environmental gains and develop fewer examples more fully, while making the comparison with individual and business disadvantages explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can generally follow the contrast between disadvantages and benefits. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from business surveys to medical aid and then national GDP, while the second shifts from ticket costs to pollution, crash risk and development. Some links are mechanical or unclear, such as “This is because” and “It also affects the economy,” where the reference of “It” is uncertain. The conclusion repeats several points but does not clearly weigh them against one another. Group related ideas together, use clearer references, and make each paragraph’s main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “representatives,” “pandemics,” “aviation,” “pollution” and “GDP,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range and control are limited by repeated or imprecise expressions and noticeable spelling and collocation errors. Examples include “reduce air travels,” “the death troll,” “surving a plane crash,” and “fun of traveling the worl.” Some choices also make the intended meaning difficult to identify, particularly “the time it takes for a business to be conducted successfully in a new location.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “air travel,” “death toll,” and “surviving a plane crash,” and proofread spelling. More precise environmental vocabulary would also help you explain the central argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, including explanations introduced by “This is because” and a conditional idea beginning “if people stop traveling.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. For instance, “Some individuals decides” should have a plural verb, while “its representatives needs” combines mismatched agreement and reference. The sentence beginning “The time it takes for a business…” is difficult to follow because its clauses do not connect clearly. Review subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences around one clear main clause. More accurate punctuation and sentence boundaries would make your reasoning easier to follow.
