Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some decided that to reduce flying or put a stop flying altogether because of the environmental damage. I strongly believe that advantages will out weigh the disadvantages. This essay will discuss how benefits outweight the drawbacks.
Ozone layer is one of the greatest creations by the nature. It is made out of Oxygen and the purpose is to protect the earth from UV radiation. Ozone layer formed over few million years. It cannot be recreate artificially by humans. However, with the creations like planes, jets travelling through the layer caused damages and allowed UV radiation to reach to the face of the earth. Those radiation waves could lead to dermatological diseases and even illness like cancer. Therefore, reduction of number of flights took over a year or stopping flying altogether benefits not only humans, animals as well. We might somehow build shelter and be safe from UV radiation, but poor animals will suffer the consequences. In one day, flying could open doors for animal extintion.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages of stopping or reducting flying. Most large scale businesses are spread around the world. Travel by a ship takes more than 1 week that flying could achieve in few hours. Time has become the enemy of people and they will do anything to save time no matter the consequences. However, destroying nature and environment is not acceptable, they are lacking options. Business could fall and rise by tomorrow. But Ozone layer could not repair overnight. Although the disadvantages seems prominent, saving the nature should be priority.
Overall, there might have some disadvantages for certain individuals and business. However, when we are looking at the bigger picture, preserving nature should take priority of dicisions. Therefore, I support the statement and believe advantages will outweigh the disadvantages

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you believe the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. You address both sides, explaining that reduced flying may harm international businesses while arguing that environmental protection is more important. The discussion of business travel is relevant, but it is less fully developed than the environmental argument: the comparison with ships is brief and does not explain how businesses or individuals might adapt. The environmental case also relies heavily on the claim that aircraft damage the ozone layer and lead to animal extinction, without support or qualification. To strengthen the response, use more accurate, specific examples of aviation’s environmental effects and develop the practical consequences for individuals as well as businesses.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the environmental benefits and disadvantages, and a concluding restatement of your view. This logical structure makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “On the other hand,” “However,” and “Overall” to signal shifts in direction. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. For example, “Therefore, reduction of number of flights took over a year or stopping flying altogether benefits…” is difficult to follow, and the transition from ozone-layer damage to animal extinction is abrupt. The conclusion repeats the position rather than drawing together the main comparison. More explicit links between claims and examples, and clearer referencing, would make the progression more consistently fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “UV radiation,” “dermatological diseases,” “environmental damage,” and “large scale businesses.” These choices help communicate the subject and show an attempt to use less common language. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “greatest creations by the nature,” “put a stop flying,” and “Time has become the enemy of people.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “outweight,” “extintion,” “reducting,” and “dicisions,” also reduce precision. The intended meaning is generally recoverable, but more natural phrasing would make the argument clearer and more credible. Check collocations and spelling carefully, and choose precise terms when describing environmental effects rather than relying on broad claims.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including contrast and concession clauses such as “Although the disadvantages seems prominent…” and “However, with the creations like planes…” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas are usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “Ozone layer is” needs an article, “the disadvantages seems” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “It cannot be recreate artificially” uses an incorrect verb form. The opening sentence, “Some decided that to reduce flying,” is also incomplete or awkwardly constructed. Review these patterns and proofread for agreement and verb forms; greater accuracy in these areas would make your complex sentences more controlled.
