Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals have decided to drop the number of flights taken every year or to stop using flights altogether. In my view, the environmental benefits are eclipsed by the drawbacks for individuals and businesses.
One environmental benefit of less flight times yearly is the protection of ozone layer. The atmosphere is under great threat due to the amount of wate element(CO2) produced from burning jet fuels over years. This contributes greatly to the depletion of the ozone layer, which is a threat to the human at large. Increased financial savings is another benefits of less flight time. People get to save a lot of money over time if they fly less or dont fly at all. Cost of booking a flight, transport to and fro, and layover in hotels cost more depending on the country and distance.
However, the drawbacks are more compeling. To begin, aviation is one the major strong hold of GDP in many countries, like Dubai, China, America and many others. This helps in the development and advancement of some nations. Reducing flight time, or not flying at all will drop the inflow of money generated by the country through aviation. Futhermore, Individuals are not left out, as their personal activities will be restricted or becomes impossible to achieve. People can no longer travel round the world frequently for vacation, sight seeing, businesse activities or even to visit their loved ones, because, the time it takes to travel by road or sea is longer than that of air. Also, people who have businesses outside the country cant easily go to monitor or supervise their establishments due to reduced flight time.
In conclusion, i believe the downsides of people deciding to reduce flight time or stop flying at all overshadows the advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you believe the disadvantages outweigh the environmental benefits. You address both sides and give relevant points, including reduced emissions and the effects on tourism, national income, holidays, and business travel. However, some ideas are not fully explained or are unclear. For example, “Increased financial savings” is presented as an environmental benefit, although it is a personal financial advantage, and the discussion of aviation’s contribution to GDP would be stronger with an explanation of how reduced flying affects jobs or related industries. Develop each main point with a clear explanation or specific example, and distinguish environmental benefits from other advantages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “However,” “To begin,” and “Furthermore” help signal the direction of the argument. The progression is generally understandable, but some connections are mechanical or imprecise. The sentence about financial savings interrupts the paragraph’s focus on environmental benefits, while the long list of reasons people travel makes the disadvantages paragraph feel crowded. Group related points and use clearer transitions to show how each example supports your position. Also ensure references are precise—for instance, clarify what “This” refers to in the discussion of aviation and national development.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “depletion,” “inflow of money,” “supervise,” and “establishments,” and your meaning is generally clear. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision, such as “less flight times,” “strong hold of GDP,” and “drop the inflow of money.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “compeling,” “Futhermore,” and “businesse,” also reduce control. Some expressions are repetitive, particularly references to “flight time.” Aim for natural collocations and accurate forms, and vary wording with terms such as “flight frequency,” “aviation sector,” and “revenue.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional construction (“if they fly less”) and a sentence explaining why travel by air is faster than travel by road or sea. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “another benefits,” “one the major,” and “activities will be restricted or becomes impossible,” where agreement or sentence structure is faulty. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and punctuation, as in “the human at large” and “because, the time.” Review subject–verb agreement and article use, and check each sentence for unnecessary commas. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to follow.
