Student answer (Band 6.0)

As compared to previous years few humans have make up one's mind to diminish the number of times they travel by airplanes or not to travel by flying due to environmental concerns. I believe environmental advantages such as lesser air pollution and judicial use of natural resources outweigh disadvantages like limited business opportunities and inconveniences for individuals and businesses.

On the one hand, due to lesser burden on travelling through air has pros as pollution which harms air will be lesser and lesser and we will be able to conserve natural resources for future which are limited in nature. In other words if we plan to chose to commute to places less by planes we will be able to reduce air pollution and preserve fuels for other purpose which can make our future easier and more comfortable.

On the other hand, If humankind will not be able to travel much by air which takes least time to travel it can have cons like there will have concentrated times to flourish business as they will be restricted to places where they can travel by train or car and another reason is individuals are living far from their home country would not be able to visit their kith and kin often.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that merits to minimize or stop traveling through can be beneficial for society as a whole as their will be drop in air pollution and renewable resources can be saved for future outweighs demerits like loss in business opportunities and people will suffer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe the environmental gains outweigh the disadvantages, and you address both sides of the question. You identify reduced air pollution and fuel conservation as benefits, then mention restricted business opportunities and difficulty visiting family as costs. These are relevant points, but some are not fully explained. For example, the business disadvantage is described as being limited to places reachable by train or car, without showing which businesses are affected or how this would matter. The environmental benefits are also asserted rather than supported with a specific example or explanation of their scale. Develop each main point with a concrete illustration and make the comparison between the overall benefits and costs more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. This logical arrangement helps the reader follow the argument, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the contrast clear. To strengthen progression further, organise each body paragraph around one main claim and explain it in a sequence of claim, reason, and example. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “due to lesser burden on travelling through air has pros,” and the conclusion repeats the introduction rather than drawing together the comparison. Use referencing and transitions that show precisely how each supporting point connects to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “air pollution,” “conserve natural resources,” “business opportunities,” and “environmental concerns.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. For instance, “judicial use of natural resources” does not convey the intended meaning; “responsible use” or “conservation” would fit. “Concentrated times to flourish business” is also difficult to interpret, and “travel by flying” is unnecessarily repetitive. Aim for natural collocations and check that each word expresses the intended idea. Replacing awkward phrases with precise, familiar academic language will make your argument clearer without requiring more elaborate vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If humankind will not be able to travel much by air…” and a concluding comparison using “outweighs.” However, control is uneven, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “few humans have make up one's mind,” where the subject and verb form do not agree, and “If we plan to chose,” which uses an incorrect verb form. The long sentence beginning “On the other hand” also has unclear clause structure, while the final sentence does not clearly connect its subject and verb. Practise accurate verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries; shorter, well-controlled sentences would help you express complex points more reliably.
