Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram demonstrates how fabric is made from bamboo.
Overall, There are nine steps of the process, The first step of process is planting bamboo plants and the last step is T-shirts and socks are made from the fabric.
In the first step, bamboo plants are planted especially in a spring weather. After that, this plants are being harvested and Autumn of the bamboo plants are collected. In the third step, these harvested bamboo pieces are cutted into strips and these strips are being crushed and, as a result we get liquid pulp.
In the intial step, these pulp are being filtered where long fibers are being separated from these pulp. Now remaining soften fibers are being mixed with water and amine oxide and after that we get yarn.In the eight step, yarn are being weaved to make fabric and eventually, fabric is ready from the bamboo and now from fabric T-shirts and socks are made.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as having nine steps and give a basic overview from planting bamboo to finished clothing, which addresses the main subject. Several central stages are also included, such as cutting, crushing, filtering and weaving. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the diagram says bamboo is harvested in autumn, not that “Autumn of the bamboo plants are collected,” and the fibres are softened with water and amine oxide before spinning; your account instead says these are mixed and “after that we get yarn,” omitting the spinning stage. The overview also describes the final products imprecisely. To develop the report further, explain each stage in the correct order and distinguish the fibre-softening, spinning, weaving and clothing stages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable sequence and is divided into paragraphs, with time and sequence markers such as “Overall,” “After that,” and “eventually.” This helps the reader follow the broad movement from growing bamboo to making fabric. However, progression is not consistently clear: “In the intial step” appears after the account of crushing, although filtering is the next stage, and the final paragraph compresses several separate steps into one long sequence. Some references, including “these pulp” and “these,” make it difficult to identify what is being described. Use one paragraph for the overview and organise the details in clear stage groups, with accurate links such as “next,” “following filtration,” and “finally.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” and “amine oxide,” so the reader can understand much of the manufacturing process. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive. “Cutted” is not the correct past form, “intial” is misspelled, and “weaved” is less suitable here than “woven.” Phrases such as “fabric is ready from the bamboo” and “Autumn of the bamboo plants are collected” are also unnatural and obscure the intended meaning. Aim for precise process collocations, for example “bamboo is harvested,” “the pulp is filtered,” and “the fibres are spun into yarn.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a result clause in “these strips are being crushed and, as a result we get liquid pulp.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation. Examples include “There are nine steps of the process, The first step,” “this plants are being harvested,” “these pulp are being filtered,” and “yarn are being weaved.” The passive voice is appropriate for describing a process, but it needs more consistent control: use forms such as “the plants are harvested,” “the pulp is filtered,” and “the yarn is woven.” Check sentence boundaries and capitalisation, and vary sentence structures without joining too many stages into one sentence.
