Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The process illustrates the steps involved in process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo.
Overall, it compromises 9 major steps. It begins with planting and harvesting the bamboo plants and doing the necessary steps which involves use of chemical for making threads of bamboo and additionally making the fabric out the yarn weaved into fabric to make clothes.
The first step is to grow bamboo plants in spring and harvest in autumn. The harvested bamboo is cut into thin strips with cutter to produce liquid pulp. Filter is used to separate long fibres from the liquid and these selected fibres are soften by using mixture of water and amine oxide.
As a result soften fibres which looks like thread can spin into yarn. Furthermore which be weaved into fabric for production clothes such as t-shirts and socks we wear.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as having nine stages and give a relevant overview from planting and harvesting through to fabric and clothing. Several key details are accurately reported, including the seasons, filtering the long fibres, and adding water and amine oxide. However, the description is not fully precise: the bamboo is cut into strips and then crushed to make liquid pulp, whereas your sentence suggests cutting produces the pulp. The final stages—spinning fibres into yarn, weaving fabric, and making clothing—are mentioned but not clearly separated. The response is also 12 words below the required minimum, limiting the opportunity to report the stages fully. Develop the overview and explain each transformation in sequence for a more complete account.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the process. The sequence is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “The first step” and “As a result” help signal progression. However, the final paragraph’s “Furthermore which” does not connect the ideas grammatically or clearly, and the overview compresses several stages into a difficult sentence. Some linking is therefore less effective than the paragraph structure suggests. Use direct stage-to-stage transitions, such as “After filtering,” and keep each sentence focused on one or two connected steps. This would make the progression through the diagram more consistently clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “pulp,” “fibres,” “yarn,” and “weaved,” and the technical reference to “amine oxide” is accurate. These choices make the topic understandable. Some word choices and collocations are imprecise, however: “compromises 9 major steps” does not mean that the process consists of nine steps, and “thin strips with cutter” is not a natural description of the cutting stage. “Necessary steps” is also vague where specific processing stages could be named. Aim for precise process language and natural combinations, such as “comprises nine stages,” “cut into strips using a saw,” and “the fibres are softened.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the opening sentence and the description of the seasons communicate their basic meaning. However, errors occur often enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. For example, “in process of manufacturing” is missing an article, “these selected fibres are soften” has an incorrect verb form, and “which be weaved” is not a complete, correctly formed clause. The overview also has a long construction with unclear grammatical links. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions (“are softened,” “are woven”) and check articles and clause structure. Shorter, well-controlled sentences would help you explain the stages more clearly while retaining some complex structures.
