Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

This diagram illustrates that how bamboo fabric is made. It tells the complete process from bamboo plant to made bamboo fabric products.

The diagram tell bamboo products complete process from making products to the start of plant bamboo plants. It describe the full understanding from planting to final product made form it. It has multiple step and process through which it passes and then the shirts and other items are made.

Firstly, the bamboo plants are plant. The plantation is doing in spring and plants harvest in autumn. Then the bamboo plants are cut into pieces and soften fibres by adding water and amine oxide in it. The next step is filter it to separate long fibres from liquid. The cut strips are use to make liquid pulp of it. The liquid pulp is used to make yarn. The further step is to weave that called making fabric. From this fabric, the products like shirts, socks and other useful products are coming in use.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the process as beginning with bamboo planting and ending in fabric products, and you include the seasonal details of planting in spring and harvesting in autumn. However, the account only partially reports the sequence: it places softening before filtering and describes the pulp-to-yarn transition without explaining that fibres are spun into yarn. The overview is also repetitive and unclear, especially the claim that the process runs “from making products to the start of plant bamboo plants.” A key feature—the nine-stage, linear process from cultivation through processing to clothing—is not clearly summarised. To strengthen the response, give an accurate overview first, then describe each stage in the diagram’s order, including crushing, filtering, softening, spinning, weaving and the final clothing items.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response opens with an introduction, follows with a general description, and uses “Firstly,” “Then,” and “The next step” to signal stages. However, the overall progression is weakened by repetition in the first two paragraphs, which both say that the diagram shows the complete process. The sequence also becomes difficult to follow because softening is mentioned before filtering and crushing is explained afterwards. Some links between stages are unclear, as in “The liquid pulp is used to make yarn,” which skips the filtering, softening and spinning steps. Use one concise overview paragraph followed by a process paragraph in the exact order shown, with clear references such as “After filtering” and “Once softened.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “fibres,” “liquid pulp,” “yarn,” and “weave,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “the plants are plant” and “the plantation is doing” do not express cultivation naturally, while “products … are coming in use” is awkward. “Cut into pieces” is also less precise than the diagram’s “cut into strips.” Aim for accurate process verbs and avoid repeating broad phrases such as “complete process” and “products.” More precise vocabulary would make the stages easier to distinguish and describe.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly relies on short, simple sentences, with a few attempts to connect ideas using “Then” and “which.” Frequent errors in sentence structure and verb forms make some statements difficult to interpret. Examples include “This diagram illustrates that how bamboo fabric is made,” “The diagram tell,” and “The bamboo plants are plant.” There are also problems with agreement and tense in “The plantation is doing in spring and plants harvest in autumn,” and the clause “The further step is to weave that called making fabric” is not grammatically complete. Practise forming clear passive sentences for process descriptions, such as “The bamboo is harvested in autumn” and “The strips are crushed to produce pulp,” and check subject–verb agreement and articles.
