Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies the diagram as a process for making bamboo fabric and gives a basic overview: it begins with planting in spring and ends with clothing. These are relevant features, but almost all the intermediate stages are omitted, so the process is only minimally reported and the reader cannot follow how bamboo becomes fabric. The claim that it involves “human and machines” is broadly plausible but does not explain the stages shown. The response also says “more nine unique step,” which does not accurately describe the nine-step sequence. The required minimum of 150 words is not met; at 71 words, the account is far too brief to select and report the main features adequately. Include the harvesting, cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving stages.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic sense of organisation: the first sentence introduces the diagram, and the second paragraph attempts an overall summary, moving from the beginning to the end of the process. The use of “Overall” and “Additionally” also signals relationships between ideas. However, the response stops before developing a sequence of stages, so there is no clear progression through the process itself. The second sentence’s “Additionally” introduces an idea that largely repeats the first paragraph rather than adding a distinct point. To improve, use a short overview followed by a paragraph that reports the stages in order, with clear links such as “next,” “after this,” and “finally.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses some relevant process vocabulary, including “manufactured,” “growing,” “final product,” and “step,” and the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited, with little vocabulary for describing the transformations shown in the diagram. Several choices or forms are inaccurate: “joint venture” is not a natural way to describe people and machines working together, “more nine” is unsuitable, and “febric” is misspelled. “Unique” also does not clearly convey that the stages are sequential. Use precise process terms such as “harvest,” “crush,” “filter,” “soften,” “spin,” and “weave,” and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response attempts more than one sentence pattern, including an introductory clause and an overview sentence beginning “Overall.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement and sentence construction are noticeable. In “The given process diagram illustrate,” the singular subject requires “illustrates.” The phrase “it is evident that how fabric is manufactured” combines two incompatible structures; write either “it is evident that the process…” or “the diagram shows how…”. In “the process start,” the verb should agree with the singular subject, and “following more nine unique step” has faulty grammatical construction and number. Aim for accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled sequencing clauses to describe each stage.
