Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
in the diagrama they describe the manfacturing of fabrics from bamboo first in spring season bamboo plant is plantandin the autum season the leafs are fell down into the floor andthe harvest collect all the leaf of bamboo plant and sent into the factory and cut into stripes then stripes are crush to make liquid and harvest filterate to seperate larger pieces then add amine oxid and water to make fabrics soften after fibers get soften the spin into yarn then designer weave it to make make fabric and the fabric is ready

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the general subject and report several stages in the correct order, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, cutting, processing the fibres, spinning yarn and weaving fabric. However, the account is very brief and does not provide a clear overview of the process as a whole or explain its main phases. Some details are inaccurate: the diagram shows bamboo being harvested, not its leaves falling and being collected, and the final stage shows clothing items rather than simply saying the fabric is ready. The response also falls short of the required 150 words, leaving important stages and explanations underdeveloped. To improve, describe the full sequence accurately and add an overview distinguishing cultivation and preparation from fibre processing and fabric production.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The stages are generally presented in process order, and words such as “first,” “then” and “after” help the reader follow the sequence. This gives the response some basic organisation. However, nearly all the information is compressed into one long sentence, with little punctuation or clear separation between stages. As a result, links between actions are sometimes difficult to follow, particularly around “harvest collect all the leaf” and the filtering and softening steps. Use separate sentences or paragraphs for the growing and manufacturing phases, and connect each stage with accurate sequencing language. Clear sentence boundaries would make the progression easier to understand without changing the useful chronological order already present.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “stripes,” “liquid,” “filter,” “fibers,” “yarn” and “weave,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or imprecise. For example, “leaf” is used where the diagram shows bamboo being harvested, “larger pieces” does not clearly describe the long fibres separated from liquid, and “designer weave it” is not an appropriate description of the process. Spelling errors such as “diagrama,” “manfacturing” and “oxid” also make the writing less clear. Build a more precise set of process terms and check spelling; phrases such as “bamboo stalks,” “liquid pulp” and “separate the fibres” would describe the diagram more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to describe a sequence using time expressions, but it relies on one extended sentence and shows very limited control of sentence structure. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur throughout, as in “bamboo plant is plantandin” and “the spin into yarn”; the reader has to infer who or what performs several actions. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, for example “the leaf” and “fibers get soften.” Punctuation is largely absent, which compounds the difficulty of following the process. Practise writing short, complete sentences in the passive voice, which is useful for process descriptions: “The bamboo is harvested in autumn” and “The fibres are softened with water and amine oxide.” Then check tense, agreement and sentence boundaries.
