The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

This is a summary of how fabric is manufactured from bamboo, the process has nine major steps from planting bamboo sampling to weaving the yam balls to make fabric.

After the bamboo sampling is planted in spring , and harvested in autumn it is cut into strips by some machinery this step is done mainly by farm workers.

The strips are crushed to make liquid pulp and then filtered to separate long fibres from liquid, fibres are softened by adding water , and amine oxide . These steps are most probably done at low-scaled industries.

The soft fibres are spun on simple machines to make yam balls which is later woven to make fabric. The fabric may also undergo various chemical treatment to preserve the cloth for long term usage. The fabric is also dyed so that it can go further for manufacturing of garments such as T-Shirts and Socks.
