IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

This diagram illustrates the process of making fabric from bamboo. There are nine steps in total.

Overall, this nine step process begins in spring by planting the bamboos in the field and ends with a variety of clothing in result. This is achieved by several steps of manufacturing the raw bamboo into yarn, which is then made into a fabric.

This process starts by planting the bamboo plants before Summer, then hand harvested by workers during Autumn. Next, the bamboo sticks are each got cut into thinner strips which later turned into a liquid pulp by crushing the previously thinned strips.

After that, the pulp will went through a filter machine which separates long fibres from the liquid. Then water and amine oxide is added, that results softened fibres. Finally, the yarn is made by the spun fluffs which is then weaved and turns into a fabric. As a result, a variety of clothing goods are made.
