The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given flow chart shows production of fabric from bamboo. The whole process is done in eight to nine steps. Here is the detailed explanation of all those steps:

At first bamboo trees are planted in the spring season. After their full growth till the Autumn, these plants are harvested. Then various machines are used to cut the bamboos into strips.

On next stage the strips are crushed to make liquid pulp, and then the pulp is filtered to separate the long fibers from liquid. In these filtered fibers water and amine oxide are added so they get soften.

Spinning in the upcoming stage help yarning of long fibers, which are then weaved to make fabric. In final step the fabric is used to make different types of clothing.

To conclude, the main features of fiber production are planting and harvesting bamboo plants, then a liquid pulp is made of it, which is then filtered, spined and weaved to make fabric.
