IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The picture illustrates the process by which bamboo fabric is created.

Overall, it has nine stages that begins with planting the bamboo during spring time and ends with the production of different merchandise that are made of bamboo fabrics.

In the initial stages, the bamboo will be planted during spring time, which will be harvested in autumn. The bamboo will be cut into strips. Then, the strips will be crushed in order to produce a liquid pulp. These pulps will be filtered to separate the long fibres from its liquid.

In the last stages, water and amine oxide will be added to the soften fibres which will be spinned to make a yarn. These organic yarns will be weaved to create a fabric. In the final stage, the bamboo fabrics will be used to make various clothing products such as socks and shirts.
