IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The process of how bamboo stems are transformed into the fabrics is illustrated by pictorial diagram.

Overall, it is a man-made process. It is long yet simple process which involves harvesting of bamboo trees in autumn and treating it into various steps to get the final product of fabric.

To begin with, it all starts to grow saplings of bamboo trees in spring which they are later harvested in the autumn. They are reduced in the form of strips which makes it easy to handle for further process. Furthermore, these strips are crushed in crusher to make the liquid pulp. After the pulp is obtained it goes for the filtration process where the long threads are separated from the liquid pulp.

Moreover, to soften the fibres water and amine oxide is added into the batch. Then it is spinned to make the yarn of thread. This thread is now weaved which is the first step and then it is used to make different clothes like t-shirts, shocks and many more.
