IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The diagram illustrates the manufacturing of the fabric from the bamboo. Overall, the process of making fabric consist of 9 stages. At the beginning with planting of the bamboo plant and end with the weaving to making fabric for the production of the clothes.

The process begin with the growing of the bamboo plant in the spring season, then in the autumn bamboo plant has been harvested. Before, crushing of the bamboo strips for to make liquid pulp, it would be cut into strips with cutter. Following this process crush strips were put into filter for the separation of long fibers from liquid. Afterwards, the separated fibres are softened by adding water and amino acid.

Once softened, the fibers are spin into yarn, which is subsequently woven to produce fabric. Finally, the finished bamboo fabric is used to manufacturing clothing, such as T-shirts and socks
