The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The liner diagram depicts the process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo.

Overall, the process experiences three seasons and some manual work at the initial stage. It has eight phases, starting from raw material and ending with processed products.

Initially, bamboo is planted in spring. After growing for two seasons, it is harvested by workers, which is the only stage that requires manual work. Bomboo then is cutted into strips for the next step, which crushes them to make liquid pulp.

Subsequently, the liquid need to go through a filter, which can separate long fibres. This long fibres still cannot be used directly. Water and amine oxide are added in a container to soften fibres, enabling them to be used for industrial purpose. After which, the yam is made by spining the softened fibres. This can finally be woven to make make fabric, which is the material of many products used on a daily basis by the general public, namely T-shirt and socks.
