Student answer (Band 5.5)
This process explained the formation of fabric from bamboo. There are different steps involved in the formation of clothe from bamboo plants to made weave its used in the making of dresses.
These nine stages are involved in the manufacturing such as growth of bamboo plants and its harvesting in the autumn season at the end making a variety of clothe.
the first step is that its plants are grown in the spring season. Moreover, its become a completely mature plants in the autumn season and its harvesting is started. The, next step is that cut into small strips and these strips are crushed to maked the liquid of pulp. These liquid are filters to separate out long fibers from liquid because these fibers are used in the formation of thread. In addition, added a specific amount of water and amine oxide to soften the fibers and a specific time required in the spiningof thread to make the yam. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, from growth to the final product. However, the overview is somewhat weak and lacks a clear summary of the overall process. While the key steps are identified, the description is occasionally repetitive and lacks the precision required for a higher band. The student identifies the stages well, but the connection between the stages and the final products (shirts, trousers, etc.) is slightly underdeveloped. To improve, ensure that the overview highlights the transformation from raw material to finished product more clearly and avoid listing items in a way that feels like a simple inventory.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into a logical sequence, following the steps of the diagram. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire body of the response is essentially one long paragraph, which hinders readability. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'Finally', they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly. The flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'The, next step is that cut into small strips'. Improving the use of paragraphing to separate the stages of the process would significantly enhance the logical flow and coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and word formation. For example, the student uses 'clothe' instead of 'clothing' or 'clothes', and 'yam' instead of 'yarn'. Phrases like 'maked the liquid of pulp' and 'spiningof thread' demonstrate a lack of control over technical or precise vocabulary. While the student attempts to use process-related terms, the inaccuracies in spelling and collocation occasionally impede the reader's understanding. A wider range of precise vocabulary related to industrial processes would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('its plants are grown', 'its become a completely mature plants'), incorrect verb forms ('to maked', 'to make the yam'), and punctuation errors. These errors are persistent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. While the student attempts to use complex sentences, the control over these structures is weak. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring correct verb tenses would help improve the accuracy of the writing.
