The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given diagram shows how bamboo fabric is manufactured. It explains the different stages of making fabric from bamboo plants, starting from planting the bamboo and ending with making clothes.

Overall, the process involves nine stages. It begins by growing bamboo in spring and ends up with manufacturing clothes such as T-shirts and socks. Before these items are produced, the bamboo goes through various stages which include cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving.

First, bamboo is planted during springtime. Then, when the bamboo is fully grown, it is harvested in autumn. After harvesting the bamboo, it is cut into small pieces. These pieces are crushed to form the liquid pulp. Next, the liquid is filtered to enable separation of the long fibers. Afterward, water and amine oxide are added in order to soften the fibers. Finally, the fibers are spun to produce yarn which is later woven to form fabric. This fabric is finally used to manufacture different types of clothes such as T-shirts and socks.

In conclusion, making bamboo fabric is a simple process with nine stages. It begins with planting bamboo and ends with producing different kind of clothings.
