IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The graphic illustration shows how the bamboo is used to make fabric.

Overall, the bamboo plant goes through different phases to manufacture fabric.The process starts from harvesting bamboo and ends at converting yarn into a fabric.

To begin with, the bamboo plants are harvested in autumn just after the spring when they get matured, these are then subjected to cutting down into strips and crushing strips to make liquid pulp. Following that this pulp has to go through a filter to separate long fibres from the liquid.

The 6th stage in the manufacturing of fabric involves addition of water and amine oxide to soften fibres which are just separated from liquid in the previous step. Then this material is spinned to make yarn, as now the process is entered into its final stages where finally yarn is weaved to make rough fabric. These rough fabrics are then designed to make different types of clothes.
