IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The diagram shows the different stages of making bamboo fabric, from planting bamboo to producing clothes.

Overall, there are nine stages in this process. It starts with planting bamboo in spring and ends with weaving the fibers to make fabric, which is then used to produce clothes.

First, bamboo plants are planted in spring. They are then harvested in autumn when they are ready. After harvesting, the bamboo is cut into small strips. These strips are then crushed to make a liquid pulp. Next, the pulp is filtered to separate the long fibers from the liquid.

After that, the fibers are softened by adding water and amine oxide. The softened fibres are then spun to make yarn. In the next stage, the yarn is woven together to produce bamboo fabric. Finally, this fabric is used to make different types of clothing such as shirts and socks

In conclusion, the production of bamboo fabric is a nine-stages process. It begins with growing and harvesting bamboo and finishes with making fabric and clothes.
