Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
This diagram provides key information about how different kinds of products produced from bamboo.
Overall, it is clear from the illustration that this is a step by step procesure, which has a clear beginning and end. While it started with planting bamboo, it ended with producing various products.
According to what is shown in the diagram , the manufacturing of fabric starts with planting bamboo in the spring, then harvesting it in the autism season, and followed by the cutting stage. In the cutting stage, all plants are cut into strips, then crushed to make liquid pulp.
In terms of the next stages , which start with filtering liquid throughout the use of a filter that separates long fibres from short fibres, then softening fibres by adding water and amine oxide. Moreover, spinning to make yarn, then weaved to make fabric, which moved to make various kinds of fabric, including sucks, and shirts.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, from planting to the final products. However, the overview is somewhat generic, and the description of the process lacks precision in certain areas. For instance, the transition from 'liquid pulp' to 'filtering' is described, but the specific chemical or mechanical details (such as the use of amine oxide) are mentioned in a way that feels slightly disconnected from the flow. While all key stages are identified, the report would benefit from a more analytical approach to the sequence rather than a simple list of steps. The inclusion of 'sucks' (likely a typo for socks) is a minor error in reporting the final products.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the process. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'According to', and 'In terms of' are used to structure the response. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'which moved to make various kinds of fabric'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to show the relationship between the stages more effectively. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is a bit dense and could have been split to better separate the chemical processing from the final manufacturing stages.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with terms like 'manufacturing', 'harvesting', 'fibres', and 'spinning' used correctly. However, there are some inaccuracies and word-choice issues. For example, 'autism season' is a significant error (likely meant 'autumn'), and 'sucks' is an incorrect term for the clothing item 'socks'. The phrase 'throughout the use of' is also slightly unnatural; 'by using' or 'through the use of' would be more appropriate. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise technical vocabulary and ensure that spelling and word choice are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'different kinds of products produced from bamboo' (missing 'are'), 'it is a step by step procesure' (spelling error), and 'which moved to make' (incorrect relative clause usage). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are inconsistent spaces before commas, such as 'diagram , the' and 'yarn, then'. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct sentence construction will improve your score.
