Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 83 words. This significantly impacts the task achievement, as the description of the manufacturing process is overly brief and lacks the necessary detail to fully explain the stages shown in the diagram. While the main features are identified, the lack of length prevents a full development of the information. To improve, you must expand on each stage of the process, providing more descriptive detail and ensuring the summary is comprehensive enough to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response uses basic sequencing words like 'In the initial process', 'Then', and 'Finally' to organize the steps. However, the paragraphing is poor, with most of the text clumped into a single block. The flow is somewhat mechanical, and the lack of sufficient content makes the overall progression feel stunted. To improve, you should group related steps into distinct paragraphs—for example, one for the raw material preparation and another for the chemical and mechanical processing—and use a wider variety of cohesive devices to link your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'make', 'cut', 'added', and 'take'. There are also some inaccuracies, such as 'clothe' instead of 'cloth' or 'fabric'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to use more precise technical terminology related to manufacturing processes, such as 'extraction', 'dissolution', 'extrusion', and 'weaving', to better describe the stages shown in the diagram.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar is characterized by frequent errors, including missing articles ('the plant of bamboo'), incorrect verb forms ('process which used to make'), and awkward phrasing ('you added water'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with little evidence of complex sentence construction. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Increasing the variety of sentence structures, such as using passive voice to describe industrial processes, would also be beneficial.
