IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram represents manufacturing of fabric from bamboo plant. Overall, there are nine stages beginning with harvesting bamboo plant and culminating in production of fabric like shirt and shocks.

To begin, Bamboo plant which was planted in spring season was harvested by a person in autumn season. As soon as bamboo plant was collected then it was placed under the cutter which cut them into strips. Furthermore, these pieces of strips were crushed down to form liquid pulp. Moreover, this liquid pulp was filtered through filter paper to separate long fibres such as pulps from liquid.

Following this, in these long fibres water and amine oxide was added to soften them and make them flexible for making fabric. Later, these soft fibres were spinned to make yam or thread than the second last step was to weave means to make fabric through that treads, especially sewing piece of fabric using that fine yam. Moving towards last step in which these fabrics were stitched in different ways to make variety of clothes such as shirt and shocks.
