The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the full manufacturing process of fabric from bamboo plants.

Overall, the bamboo fabric go through multiple rigorous steps before turning into a fabric which starts in spring from planting bamboo plants to autumn for harvesting. Numerous other steps including cutting in strips, softening fibres, filtering, crushing the strips and etc are followed to get the final result.

At first, bamboo plants are planted in the Spring season. In Autumn, the bamboo plants harvest properly. From this moment on, the fabric manufacturing process starts with cutting the plants in strips with the help of a machine. Then, to make liquid pulp, the strips are crushed properly. The next step is separating long fibres from liquid which is called filtering.

Once the filtering is completed, water and amine oxide is used to soften the fibres. Now comes the making of yarn which is done by spinning the fibres. This yarn is then weaved to make fabric which gives us the final clothes made in garments that we wear on a daily basis. In total, there are eight steps to the manufacturing process of bamboo fabrics.
