The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The provided figure illustrates the process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo.

Overall, fabric manufacturing is divided into nine different stages consisting of organic seed planting, harvesting, processing with mechanical tools along with chemicals, and finally completing the process with the commercial use of fabric.

The very first stage of producing fabric is planting bamboo trees during the spring season, followed by harvesting the planted bamboos in Aumun. After which, the harvested plants are cut into strips using mechanical cutter and then the strips are crushed to form liquid pulp. To avoid long fibres to be included in the process, the liquid pulps are then filtered. The sixth step adds the mixture of water and a chemical known as amine oxide that soften the extracted small fibres. After softening, the fibres are spinned that results in the production of yarn rolls, which are then eventually weaved using machines to make fabric. This actually marks the end of the procedure of forming fabric.

The final stage is the production stage, which uses these weaved fabrics and creates consumer-ready commercial products, such as t-shirts or socks.
