IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram describes how bamboo trees is use in the production of fabric.

Overall, it is evident the process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo is a linear process that has 9 distinctive stages. While it begins at the planting of bamboo, it culminates at weaving of fabric to make T-shirt and socks.

At the early stage, bamboo plants usually grows in the springs, so it will be harvested in the autumn. The harvesting stage is a manual process that requires the use of cutlass to cut bamboo tress. These bamboo plant are strips by the machine. The stripped bamboo are crushed into liquid pulp and at the fifth stage the liquid in the pulp undergo filtration using a filter.

This is followed by adding water and amine oxide to soften fibers. Meanwhile, the soften fibers will be spin to make yarn. Finally, the yarn will be weave to make fabric and the fabric is sew into shirt and socks.
