The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The provided diagram outlines the various stages involved in the production of fabric made from bamboo.

Overall, it is evident that the process consists of several sequential stages, beginning with the plantation of bamboo and ending with the production of clothes.

In the initial stages, the bamboo plants are planted in the spring season before being harvested in the autumn. Following this, a round-shaped blade cuts bamboo into strips and then strips are crushed to make a liquid pulp. Afterwards, the liquid pulp undergoes a filter which separate long fibres from liquid. Subsequently, the process moves to the next phase where fibres are softened by adding water and amine oxide.

In the later stages, the fibres are used to create a yarn before obtaining a weave. After completing this stage, a weave is made from yarn to make a fabric. Ultimately, the clothes such as t-shirts and socks are manufactured and distributed in the market.
