Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, from planting to the final product. However, the overview is weak; it lacks a clear summary of the key trends or the nature of the process (e.g., that it is a multi-stage industrial transformation). The description of the steps is somewhat mechanical and lacks the analytical tone required for an Academic Task 1 report. While all steps are mentioned, the lack of a clear, professional overview and the informal tone (e.g., 'here is it') prevent a higher score. The information is presented accurately, but the development of the summary could be more sophisticated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into a brief introduction and a body paragraph, but the paragraphing is insufficient for a clear report. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or misused, such as 'Additionally', 'After while', and 'because of it'. The flow of ideas is somewhat disjointed, and the transition between the steps feels forced rather than logical. The lack of clear paragraph breaks between the initial stages and the final processing stages makes the text feel like a single, dense block of information, which hinders readability and logical progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several inaccuracies. Words like 'fibrics', 'yam', and 'sperated' are misspelled or misused. The phrasing is often unnatural, such as 'entered into strips' instead of 'cut into strips' or 'caused makin fabric'. While the student attempts to use process-related terminology like 'liquid pulp' and 'amine oxide', the overall range is restricted. The repetitive use of basic verbs and the inability to use precise technical collocations (e.g., 'converted into yarn' instead of 'converted in spin to make yam') limit the score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with verb tense consistency (e.g., 'the process was written', 'it was caused makin'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. The use of articles and prepositions is also inconsistent. For example, 'the shirts and socks are become ready' is grammatically incorrect. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and the lack of varied, accurate complex structures keep the score in the lower range.
