Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to focus on the task. The introduction includes irrelevant general information about fabric, which is not required for an Academic Task 1 report. While you describe the stages of the process, the summary lacks a clear overview of the main features, such as the transition from raw material to finished product. Furthermore, you introduce external information about historical harvesting methods that is not present in the provided diagram. To improve, focus strictly on the information provided in the graphic, ensure you include a clear overview of the process, and avoid adding personal opinions or external knowledge.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You use basic linking words like 'First of all', 'After this', and 'Ultimately', but the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'Proceeding with this step than we soften', where the connection to the previous step is awkward. To improve, use a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that logically leads to the next stage of the process.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'fabric', 'bamboo', and 'make'. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'First and Farmost' (a misspelling of 'foremost'), 'heavy machinery's' (incorrect pluralization), and 'yam' (likely a typo for 'yarn'). The language lacks the precision required for describing a technical or industrial process. To improve, focus on learning process-specific vocabulary such as 'extraction', 'conversion', 'processing', and 'transformation' to describe the stages more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('bamboo tree gets mature'), incorrect verb tenses ('fabric was always been'), and punctuation errors, particularly the misuse of semicolons and commas. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. For example, 'If we take a sight on flow chart given' is grammatically awkward. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex structures.
