Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the process but fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the main features of the diagram. The description is largely narrative rather than analytical, and it includes irrelevant personal commentary at the end (e.g., 'which we can wear and we can go outside'). The response lacks a formal structure, failing to group the stages of the process logically. While the steps are mentioned, the lack of a clear summary and the inclusion of extraneous information prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks effective paragraphing, with most of the text contained in a single, dense block. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and repetitive manner, such as the frequent use of 'and' and 'after'. There is no clear logical progression between the stages of the process. The transition between the technical description and the final personal commentary is abrupt and confusing, which hinders the overall flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Basic terms like 'plant', 'cut', and 'make' are used repeatedly. There are several spelling errors, such as 'manufatured', 'yarm', and 'fibric'. The student struggles to use precise technical terminology appropriate for a process description, relying on informal language. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with the necessary precision for an Academic Task 1 response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('This graph tell us'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making them difficult to follow. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the control over basic grammar is inconsistent. These errors frequently impede the reader's understanding of the process being described.
