Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student provides a clear overview of the fabrication process with eight distinct steps. However, the description lacks detailed comparisons and insights into the overall significance of each step. The sequence of processes is generally well-followed, but the phrasing such as "after that, labor harvested grow plants" can confuse readers about the timeline and actors in the process. This diminishes the clarity of the task achievement, especially in contrasting initial stages versus the final production outcomes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The coherence and cohesion of the response are generally acceptable, with logical sequencing of steps. Transition phrases like "To start with" and "After that" guide the reader through the process effectively. However, usage of conjunctions and linking words could be more varied to enhance cohesion. Additionally, the final step’s phrasing, "lastly, yarn has been weave for make clothes," disrupts the flow due to grammatical inconsistencies, which affects overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student utilizes a basic range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, such as "planting," "harvesting," and "weaving." However, some terms are used incorrectly or lack precision, for instance, "add" (should be "added") and "has cut" (should be "is cut"). There is also some repetition with terms like "fiber" and "liquid," which could be improved with synonyms for better lexical variety. Overall, greater precision and variation would enhance lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. Problems include subject-verb agreement (e.g., "strips has been crush") and incorrect verb forms (e.g., "has cut," should be "is cut"). Additionally, certain phrases lack clarity due to incorrect structure (e.g., "for make clothes" should be rephrased). Improving grammatical accuracy would significantly enhance the overall quality of the response.
Overall feedback
The student demonstrates a fair understanding of the fabric-making process, adequately outlining the eight steps involved. However, improvements in vocabulary, grammatical accuracy, and clarity of expression are needed to strengthen the response. The use of varied linking words and more precise vocabulary choices could improve expressiveness and reader engagement. Focus on using the correct verb tenses and forms to enhance grammatical range accuracy. Overall, practice in proofreading could help catch basic errors and refine syntax.
