Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the description of the process. While you have identified the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, the under-length nature of the response means that the overview is somewhat thin and lacks the necessary detail to reach a higher band. To improve, ensure you expand on each stage of the process, perhaps by describing the physical changes or the purpose of specific equipment mentioned in the diagram, to ensure you comfortably exceed the 150-word threshold.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the sequence of events. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, with frequent use of 'Next stage' and 'In next stage'. Additionally, there are issues with sentence structure, such as starting sentences with 'Which' or 'It', which creates fragments rather than cohesive flow. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases such as 'subsequently', 'following this', or 'once the pulp has been filtered' to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for describing a technical process, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. You correctly use terms like 'harvested', 'liquid pulp', and 'fibres', but there are some inaccuracies, such as 'making yam' (likely meant 'yarn') and 'weave process'. The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic verbs hinders the overall quality. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise process-related terminology would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the process consist of'), punctuation errors (sentence fragments starting with 'Which'), and incorrect word forms ('weave process' instead of 'weaving process'). The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the attempt at complex sentences often results in grammatical slips. To improve, focus on ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and pay closer attention to punctuation, particularly avoiding starting sentences with relative pronouns like 'which'.
