Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to provide a clear summary of the manufacturing process. Instead of describing the stages shown in the diagram, the text focuses on subjective opinions about bamboo growth and repetitive, informal commentary. It fails to identify the key stages such as harvesting, crushing, chemical processing, spinning, and weaving. The information is not presented as a report, and the lack of a clear overview or logical progression means the task requirements are not met. The content is largely irrelevant to the specific task of describing a technical process.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks paragraphing and logical structure. It is written as a single, run-on block of text with no clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are either absent or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'however' and 'and'. The lack of punctuation makes it difficult to follow the sequence of the manufacturing process, and the ideas are not linked in a way that guides the reader through the stages of the diagram.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and informal, relying on repetitive phrases like 'take your time' and 'make'. There are significant spelling errors (e.g., 'banefits', 'speings', 'plup', 'yam') and incorrect word choices that impede clarity. The student does not demonstrate the ability to use technical or process-related vocabulary appropriate for an Academic Task 1 response. The language is conversational rather than academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response consists almost entirely of run-on sentences with a complete lack of punctuation. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('bamboo take yours'), incorrect verb forms, and awkward phrasing. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures; the writing relies on simple, poorly constructed clauses. The high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read and understand.
