Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student provides a clear overview of the bamboo fabric manufacturing process, detailing the main stages from harvesting to weaving. However, the response lacks some key information about specific processes and the use of technical terms that would enhance clarity. The conclusion about the scientific nature of the process is insightful but could be more directly tied back to the steps detailed. Overall, the main features are reported, yet the summary could be more organized and comprehensive. The task is partially accomplished but lacks a structured overview and some important details. Task Achievement Band Score: 6.0

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay's coherence is affected by a lack of clear organization. The main features are mentioned, but they are not logically sequenced. For instance, the transition from the filtration step to spinning is abrupt, leading to confusion. Sentence structures could be improved by using cohesive devices more effectively to connect ideas, e.g., "After this, the next step..." to guide the reader through the process. There are repeated ideas which could have been structured better to create a more logical flow. Coherence And Cohesion Band Score: 5.5

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary demonstrates a basic understanding of the subject but could benefit from more variety and precision. The use of phrases like "cut in to strips" is awkward and could be replaced with "cut into strips" or "processed into strips". Terms like "soften fibers" could be clarified as "softened fibers". There is an appropriate use of some technical terms, but overall the range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. More sophisticated synonyms and varied sentence structures would enhance the lexical resource. Lexical Resource Band Score: 6.0

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response shows an acceptable grammatical range but contains several errors that detract from clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement in phrases like "this bamboo is further cuts" (should be 'cut') and awkward constructions such as "This ready fibric" which should be "fabric". The overall sentence structures tend to be simple, with few complex sentences used, limiting grammatical complexity. The grammatical inaccuracies impact the overall fluency of the response. Grammatical Range Accuracy Band Score: 5.5

Overall feedback

You have successfully identified the main features of the bamboo fabric manufacturing process, and your response includes relevant steps. However, you should work on organizing your information more clearly to enhance coherence. Try to use linking phrases to help guide the reader through each stage of the process. Expanding your vocabulary will also be beneficial—consider using technical terms relevant to textile manufacturing for more precision. Additionally, double-check your grammar and sentence structure to reduce errors, particularly in verb forms and agreements. Practice writing more complex sentences for better variety in your writing.
