Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the process is described in a logical sequence, the overview is missing, and the report lacks a cohesive summary of the main features. The division of the text into three separate paragraphs with meta-commentary ('The rest six steps we will discuss...') is inappropriate for an academic report and suggests a lack of understanding of the required format. The information is presented as a list of steps rather than a synthesised report, leading to an under-developed response that does not fully address the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The organisation is poor. The use of meta-commentary, such as 'The rest six steps we will discuss in upcoming paragraphs', is highly unconventional and disrupts the flow of the report. Paragraphing is used incorrectly; instead of grouping information logically, the text is broken up by repetitive, unnecessary sentences that do not contribute to the description of the process. Cohesive devices are limited and often repetitive, with 'then' being used excessively to link sentences. The progression of ideas is mechanical rather than fluid, making the text difficult to follow as a cohesive piece of academic writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. While some process-specific terms like 'liquid pulp', 'filtration', and 'fibres' are used correctly, the range is limited. There are errors in word choice and morphology, such as 'cutted' (incorrect past tense of cut) and 'spinned' (incorrect past tense of spin). The reliance on simple verbs like 'make' and 'produced' limits the ability to describe the technical nature of the manufacturing process effectively. To improve, you should incorporate more precise verbs and nouns related to industrial processes and avoid informal phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. The sentence structure is simplistic, relying heavily on run-on sentences connected by 'then'. There are significant errors in verb forms, such as 'cutted' instead of 'cut' and 'spinned' instead of 'spun'. Punctuation is also problematic, with a lack of proper sentence boundaries and capitalization issues. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple active voice sentences. To reach a higher band, you must focus on using a variety of complex sentence structures and ensuring accurate subject-verb agreement and tense usage.
