Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While the student identifies the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, the description is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. The overview is present but lacks sufficient detail to provide a clear summary of the process. Because the response is unfinished and under-length, it does not fully cover the requirements of the prompt, leading to a lower score in this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay attempts to use basic cohesive devices such as 'At first', 'after that', and 'Then after', but these are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The paragraphing is inconsistent, and the logical flow is disrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is weak, and the lack of a conclusion or a completed process description makes the overall structure feel disjointed and unfinished.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'plant', 'cut', and 'make', which are insufficient for a formal process description. There are noticeable errors in word choice, such as '3th step' (instead of 'third') and 'yam wh' (which is incomplete). The range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the precision required for Academic Task 1, and the errors occasionally hinder the reader's understanding of the specific manufacturing stages.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. Examples include 'there are nine step to produced' (should be 'steps to produce'), 'plant bamboo plants in spring is the first' (incorrect sentence structure), and 'people was cutting' (subject-verb agreement error). The use of tenses is inconsistent, and the sentence structures are largely simple or incorrectly formed. The incomplete final sentence further demonstrates a lack of control over complex grammatical structures.
