Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, from harvesting to the final product. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the process, which is essential for Task 1. The student includes personal opinions ('I think cut and crush is relevant'), which is inappropriate for an academic report. The description of the steps is somewhat mechanical and lacks the synthesis required to achieve a higher band. While the main features are identified, the lack of a formal structure and the inclusion of subjective commentary limit the effectiveness of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is written as a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. There is no paragraphing, and the use of cohesive devices is repetitive and mechanical. Almost every sentence begins with 'Then' or 'In steps', which creates a monotonous flow. While there is a chronological sequence, the lack of varied linking words and the absence of paragraph breaks hinder the logical progression of the report. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure is quite basic.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic verbs like 'make', 'cut', and 'add' throughout the text. There are also errors in word choice and form, such as 'yam' instead of 'yarn' and 'soften fiber' instead of 'softened fiber'. The attempt to use more technical terms is hindered by inaccurate usage. To improve, the student needs to incorporate a wider range of process-related vocabulary, such as 'converted', 'processed', 'extracted', and 'transformed', and ensure correct word forms are used.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with article usage ('in spring season', 'the bamboo send into'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or poorly constructed, such as 'Then the bamboo send into cutter factory.' There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and punctuation is often misused or missing. The errors are frequent and pervasive, which significantly affects the readability of the report.
