The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo.

Overall, it is a nine-step process which starts from planting bamboo in spring and then harvesting it in autumn before the raw material undergoes several processing stages to produce fabric for clothing.

In the spring, bamboo is planted and it is harvested in Autumn. The bamboo is then cut into strips using machinery. These crushed strips are used to make liquid pulp. Once the liquid pulp is ready, it is passed through filters which separate the long fibres from the liquid.

After the fibres are extracted from liquid pulp, water and amine oxide are added to soften these fibres. Spinning is done on these softened fibres to make yarn. The yarn is then rolled before the weaving process begins. Finally, the yarn is woven into fabric, which is then used to manufacture clothing.
