The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given diagram illustrates the manufacturing process of fabric from bamboo plant. Overall, the process is linear and consists of nine major stages, beginning with the plantation and harvesting of bamboo plant and ending with the production of fabric to make different garments.

Initially, bamboo plants are planted in a field during the spring season. After plants reach the suitable growth stage, they undergo harvesting process, which is performed manually. Bamboos are then cut into small strips with the help of cutting machine and crush into pieces to make liquid pulp, which subsequently transfered for filtration. Now, the obtained liquid pulp are filtered in order to separete long fibres from liquid.

After filtration, water and amino oxide are added into extracted fibres to make them soft. Following that, these soft fibres are spun into a roll to make yarn, which then weaved to make fabrics. Finally, these fabrics are used to make garments such as t-shirts and socks.
