The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The diagram illustrates the process by which fabric is produced from bamboo.

Overall, it is a linear process consisting of several stages beginning with planting bamboo trees during spring and ending with the production of fabric for making clothes. Both manmade and automated stages are added to the procedure for manufacturing fabric.

To produce bamboo, first a bamboo tree is planted during spring which can be harvested by Autumn. At the beginning of the procedure the bamboo is cut into small strips. Those strips then needs to crush to turn into liquid pulp. The next step is filtering where long fibers are separated from liquid. After that, to soften fibers water and amine oxide are mixed with it. When the fiber become soft yam is produced from it through spinning. Subsequently, weave is produced from the yam which is used to make fabric. The final stage is making of clothes and socks using the fabric manufactured from bamboo.
