Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the report covers the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, the description is somewhat superficial. The overview is present but lacks detail, and the conclusion is missing. The response identifies the key stages from planting to the final product, but the lack of length prevents a full development of the information. To improve, ensure you expand on the descriptions of each stage and provide a more comprehensive summary of the process flow.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the process. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'In the following stage', 'subsequently', 'Next', 'furthermore'). There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the awkward phrasing in the introduction: 'It shows overall, it shows 9 stages.' The progression of ideas is logical, following the chronological order of the diagram, but the transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated to improve the flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'plant bamboo was planted' and 'spin is transfered into yarn'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic terms like 'make' and 'collected'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to manufacturing processes, such as 'harvested', 'processed', 'extracted', or 'transformed', and avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('every strips was crushed'), tense consistency ('plant bamboo was planted'), and article usage. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capitalization and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using a wider variety of complex structures to describe the process more accurately.
