The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The provided diagram illustrates the production of fabric from bamboo plants in 9 different steps.

Overall, whole process of manufacturing consists of nine stages. It begins from harvesting and cutting of raw bamboo once gathered, it undergo the filtering process and culminates in the production of final textile products like clothing.

Initially, bamboo plants are grown in summer and then they are harvested in autumn. Ultimately, bamboo is cut down into small strips using a circular saw. These strips are crushed to make a liquid pulp which is then filtered to separate long bamboo fibers from the surrounding liquid.

In the secondary phase, the extracted fibers are then soften by adding water and amine oxide. This is imperative step for making fabric. After softening, the material is spun into yarn. This yarn is then woven into fabric, which is ultimately used to manufacture end products such as t-shirts and socks.
