Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The process diagram illustrates the nine levels of bamboo fabric production from plantation to the finished fine fabric
Overall, the planting and stitching to the fabric from Bamboo involves nine stages which starts from bamboo plantation and ends with the finished products for example, t-shirts and shocks. The Bamboo being planted at spring and being harvested at autumn
From level One to Four, the nurturing of raw materials (bamboo) has been undergone processing line before entering the level five filtration. In the starting four stages, the bamboo has gone through several queue, growing to the matured point then it has been harvested down in the second level before cutting into strips in level three to crushing the strips in level 4 to make the liquid pulp.
From Level five to Level eight, it has been evidently visible that the liquid pulp are being filtered out to separate the long fibres from liquid through heating mechanism. Then in level six, a portion of water with amine oxide are being mixture with soften fibre before entering the stage seven, where the spinning work being done to make yarn. Furthermore, the demonstration of level 8 showcases the weave essential for stitching which leads to the final product in level 9, the fine t-shirt and shocks,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all stages of the process, from plantation to the final product. The overview is clear, identifying the nine-stage nature of the process. However, the description of the stages is somewhat repetitive and lacks a more analytical approach to the comparisons. For instance, the transition between the chemical processing and mechanical stages could be more clearly delineated. While all parts of the task are addressed, the development of the information is slightly mechanical, focusing on listing steps rather than synthesizing the flow of the process effectively. The inclusion of examples like 't-shirts and shocks' (should be socks) is accurate to the diagram.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the process. Cohesive devices such as 'From level One to Four', 'Furthermore', and 'Then' are used to guide the reader through the stages. However, some transitions feel a bit forced or mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved to sound more natural. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the initial stages from the later chemical and mechanical phases, which contributes to the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with terms like 'plantation', 'filtration', 'liquid pulp', and 'spinning' used correctly. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'shocks' instead of 'socks' and 'mixture' used as a verb instead of 'mixed'. The range is sufficient to describe the process, but it lacks the sophistication or precision that would elevate it to a higher band. The repetition of 'level' throughout the text makes the vocabulary feel somewhat limited and repetitive rather than varied.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'The Bamboo being planted at spring' (should be 'is planted in spring') and 'a portion of water... are being mixture' (should be 'is mixed'). Subject-verb agreement and passive voice construction are inconsistent. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb tenses and preposition usage would improve the accuracy.
