IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given illustration displays the manufacturing process of fabric from bamboo. In an overall perspective, it consists a total of 9 steps that starts with planting bamboo plants and ends with final product.

To begin with, the first step involves the planting of bamboo plants in the spring season. As a result, bamboo plants get ready to be harvested in the autumn season. After that, these bamboo sticks are cut into strips with the help of saw machine. The obtained strips are crushed to get liquid pulp. The next step is to filter the liquid pulp so that long fibres get separated from it. The solution of water and amino oxide is used to soften the fibres. Now, the further step involves spinning of fibres continuously. As a result, yam is produced through it. The second last step is to weave yam to make fabric from it. After fabric is obtained, finally it can be turned into various clothes such as socks, t-shirts, sweaters and so on. The produced products are then sent to the market for commercialization.
