IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the process of transforming bamboo into fabric.

Overall, the diagram suggest that there are nine steps to manufacture fabric from bamboo, beginning with planting the bamboo tree during spring to the final step where the clothes are finished.

To be able to make clothes with bamboo fabric, it is necessary firstly plant bamboo plants during spring. Furthermore, the harvest happens during Autumn, and is most done by humans. The bamboo plants are sent to a machine where it will be cut into strips. The next step, is to make liquid pulp, and for this reason the strips are crushed; the material then needs to go to a filter where the long fibres are separeted from liquid.

After water and amine oxide are added to the fibres, its became soft and goes to the next step, called sping. The spin is when the yam is made. Finally, the last step before the actual clothes are ready for consumption is to make the fabric, called weave.
