The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given process diagram shows the procedure of making fabric from bamboo.

Overall, there are a total of nine steps in the process from planting a bamboo to obtaining the final product.

Firstly, the planting of bamboo trees is done during the season of spring. Once the bamboo trees are grown properly the harvesting of plants is done during the season of autumn. So, the time required for bamboo to grow to its full extent is usually high. After getting harvested the bamboo's are cut into strips for the next process of crushing the strips and extracting liquid pulp from them. Later, the pulp goes through a filter for separation of unwanted liquid from the long fibres.

The obtained fibres are then gone through a procedure for softening the fibres by adding the water and amine oxide to it. After all the process the fibres are spinned to make a yam for storing the fabric. All the stored fabric in yam is then used for making weave. This helps to store the fabric more efficiently. In the final step the weave are then used to make the final products which includes tshirts and socks.
