The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The figure illustrates the method of formation of fabric from bamboo plants.

Overall, there are nine major steps, linearly, involved in the making of fabric by cutting, filtering, converting, and making it into clothes.

To begin with, bamboo plant seeds are allowed to germinate in the spring season. Secondly, when they are fully developed, they are harvested usually in the autumn season. Subsequently, it is cut into small strips using cutters; forthwith, they are crushed into strips to make liquid pulp.

Furthermore, it is then filtered to separate long fibers of plants from liquid in order to convert it into softened fibers by adding water and amine oxide. In the seventh step, it is then allowed for spinning to make yarn as rolls of threads. In the eighth step, it is woven to make fabric, which is not stitched yet. It is later stitched to make proper clothes like shirts, socks, etc. in the last step.
