IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The presented diagram illustrates how cloth is processed from bamboo.

Overall, from the given diagram the process takes place in nine stages. The process starts by planting bamboo plants and ends with producing fabric. The production generally require physical, machinery and chemical needs.

The initial stage in manufacturing clothes starts by planting bamboo plants which usually takes place during spring. When the bamboo is mature is harvested by physical means, this stage occurs in autumn. The harvested bamboo is cut into strips using machinery. The strips are crushed to extract liquid pulp.

The liquid pulp is filtered using filters in which separation of long fibers from liquid takes place. In the step the long fibers are soften by the addition of water and amine oxide. The fibers are spun in order to make yarn. The yarn is woven to make fabric. Lastly the clothes are manufactured for human use and transported.
